Whilst there is a lot to take in, I thought the course was excellent at helping us understand the basics and giving us confidence to now respond in the best way possible to someone who is struggling with their mental health. Also a great variety of learning - films, reading, group exercises etc I thought Pippa was excellent - it's very hard delivering courses online and she did a great job.
The course content I found absolutely essential for me, and for any other people who work in any similar support role; I wish I had completed this years ago. I will take so much from this- it has given me confidence in my daily life, and not just with work, but with supporting family, friends, work colleagues and also myself. I have used some of my new knowledge daily several times this week, which shows how relevant this course is in my life. It has also caused me to reflect upon my own self care, which has been lacking since lockdown. and I have started to address this already. Excellent presenter- great pace, great skills. Very impressed.
Fab course! It should be compulsory for all people working with young people.
Cannot fault the course or instructors
Really excellent course. It was very interesting and varied in course delivery. The instructors made everyone really comfortable and welcome. The course will be really helpful.
I found the course extremely informative. The pace was good and the instructors were professional and supportive. Great resources too. I will definitely recommend this course
This Youth MHFA course contains a lot of useful information. It was very well presented. With the increase in mental health issues generally it is important for these courses to continue. There was a lot of things to go through and this was made possible by the excellent leadership of the instructor. Thanks very much Pippa.
As a qualified MHFA trainer, I deliver both Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid courses including the newly adapted Online 2 day Adult Mental Health First Aider.
I hold qualifications in Counselling and Psychology and in addition to facilitating training, I am a qualified Life Coach, working to help people re-discover their values and find a more fulfilling life.
On a voluntary basis I have supported, over many years, and continue to support, a number of people who are experiencing mental ill health.
I am an experienced Trainer: I taught the IEHO Basic Food Hygiene Certificate for many years and have also written and delivered many courses around the subject of supporting older people.
I am passionate about improving support for people who have mental health issues and I feel that the MHFA course is a great way to make improvements in this area, by teaching people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.
I always enjoy meeting course attendees and hearing about the support they give and the work they do and I endeavour to make the training as interesting and fruitful as possible for each person.
